For years, Harry Potter fans gathered at King's Cross railway station in London on Sept. 1 to celebrate the annual sendoff for the Hogwarts Express from Platform 9 and Three-Quarters.

Unfortunately for Harry Potter fans but good for travelers, the event did not take place on Sept. 1, 2024, but that didn't stop Harry Potter fans from venturing to the train station to voice their displeasure.

According to a report from BBC, Harry Potter fans showed and booed the train announcements on Sept. 1 for not including a special announcement for the Hogwarts Express.

For those who don't know, the Hogwarts Express is the train that all the Hogwarts student ride on to get to school. It's one of the most magical scenes in Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone because it's basically Harry's second exposure to the Wizarding World after Diagon Alley. We also see Harry get attacked by a dementor in Harry Potter in the Prisoner of Azkaban and Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince on the train.

BBC reported that King's Cross actually told fans in July that the event would not be happening this year, two months ahead of time to ensure no one had to change their travel plans. Apparently, in 2023, there were so many Harry Potter fans that actually showed up and caused delays at the train station. BBC reports that thousands of fans attended the event in 2023. It's unclear how many turned out to boo the lack of Hogwarts Express announcement at King's Cross on Sept. 1.

You can watch the fans booing in a video posted on Twitter by Pop Crave without attribution.

I don't have a lot of big feelings about this other than to say I just hope everyone got where they were going in safely and in a reasonable amount of time. I don't think anyone likes to be stuck on public transportation, or any transportation for that matter, for longer than they need to be. If the Harry Potter announcement and event were causing delays or causing travelers extra difficulty, it makes sense that it shouldn't happen.

We can always go watch the movie every Sept. 1 and watch Harry ride the Hogwarts Express no less than five times! Of course, Harry doesn't ride the Hogwarts Express in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows because he drops out of school and gets his Wizard GED while defeating the most feared wizard, Lord Voldemort. Oh, and in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Dobby stops Harry and Ron from making it on the train, which leads the young wizards to use Arthur Weasley's flying car to travel to Hogwarts.

All eight of the Harry Potter movies are now streaming on Peacock and MAX right now.
