One of the original stars of the Harry Potter movies is heading back to Hogwarts, but no, it's not for the new Harry Potter series on HBO.
According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, Tom Felton, who starred as Draco Malfoy in all eight of the Harry Potter movies, will reprise his role as Draco on Broadway in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. It will be Felton's Broadway debut.
Felton confirmed the news on Instagram and social media. He also shared the first look of him as Draco in the play on Instagram, as well. It's quite a cool teaser for Felton's fans and Harry Potter fans.
According to the report, Felton's role in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child begins on Nov. 11, 2025, and will run for 19 weeks from March 22, 2026. You better get your tickets soon if you want to see the original Draco return.
Previously, Felton said that he planned on making an appearance as an extra in the Harry Potter series, which just started filming this summer in the UK. Will he still be able to make it happen as he preps for the new role on Broadway? We'll just have to wait and see! If not during the first season, it could definitely happen down the road, of course. The current plan, which was teased by Express, is for the series to run for seven seasons on HBO.
Felton also reportedly has a behind-the-scenes role with the series, as well.
It makes a lot of sense for the stars of Harry Potter to return for the Broadway series! It's definitely a benefit for the play, but for someone like Felton, it's definitely a cool experience to go back into the mind of that character two decades after the movies began. I don't think we're going to be seeing Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, or Emma Watson playing their characters again, but some of the other stars could definitely return.
Draco also has a significant role in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which begins 19 years after the Battle of Hogwarts during the book's epilogue scene when Harry, Ginny, Ron, Hermione, Draco, and the other parents drop their kids off at the Hogwarts Express Platform 9 3/4 at King's Cross Station.
No spoilers about what the play is actually about, but it's a wild story! The Malfoys and the Potters are thrust back together again.
We'll share more updates about Felton's role in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and the Harry Potter series coming to HBO next year (potentially!). Stay tuned!
