Casting for the new HBO Harry Potter series is underway. With a new Golden Trio confirmed, along with important adult characters and some of Harry's classmates, the cast is shaping up before the series heads into production later this summer.

However, there are still several key characters without casting confirmations. From other Gryffindors to important professors, and even a character originally omitted from the film adaptations, there are plenty more casting announcements we could see in the coming weeks. This isn't an exhaustive list, but there are 12 characters we can't wait to see announcements for.

Fred and George Weasley

With Ron and Molly Weasley's casting announced, it only makes sense that we hear about the twins soon. Not only does Harry meet them early on because of his new friendship with Ron, but they are also members of the Quidditch team, so they pop up often during Harry's first year at Hogwarts. They are one of the most iconic duos of the series, and fans are excited to see who will play them next.

Neville Longbottom

Several of Harry's fellow Gryffindor dormmates have been cast, but the new Neville Longbottom has yet to be announced. Originated by Matthew Lewis, Neville has great character development in the first book as he learns to stand up for himself, even to people he considers friends. He even secures the winning House points so Gryffindor wins the House Cup, and we can't wait to see who will wield the Sword of Gryffindor next.

Professor Flitwick

The two professors who impact Harry the most, Professors McGonagall and Snape, have been cast, but another professor fans are waiting to hear about is Professor Flitwick. He's the Ravenclaw Head of House and Charms professor, and was originally played by Warwick Davis. It will be difficult shoes to fill, but who else will teach Harry how to correctly pronounce Wingardium Leviosa?

Dudley Dursley

The Dudley patriarch and matriarch have been cast, but what about Harry's cousin Dudley? While he doesn't have a huge role across the books, he is one of the first characters in Harry's life that readers meet. And, because a series will give the creative team more time to spend on different scenes, Dudley's growth, including what he says to Harry at the beginning of Deathly Hallows, has a better chance of being on screen in this adaptation.

Dean Thomas

The Seamus casting is confirmed, so now we need his partner in crime, Dean Thomas. One of Harry's fellow Gryffindors, he was missing from the last casting announcement. He's a known West Ham supporter, and later on the series, he is one of Ginny's love interests. With his casting, Harry's class of Gryffindor boys is complete.

Madam Hooch

While Madam Hooch may not be as present in the rest of the books, the Flying professor and Quidditch referee is one of the professors we see the most of in Sorcerer's Stone. With her yellow eyes and white hair, she always means business. Quidditch becomes less and less a part of the narrative, especially after Goblet of Fire, so this first season is her time to shine.

Percy Weasley

Percy is Harry's House Prefect and the Weasley who is the polar opposite of Ron, Fred, and George. He's Harry's first introduction to a student-based authority figure, and while it isn't always mentioned, Percy has one of the best character arcs of the series. From Prefect to assistant at the Ministry of Magic to doing what he believes is right, even after he's been a bit alienated from his family? He's a great character, and we're waiting to see who plays him next.

Nearly Headless Nick

The Gryffindor House ghost is a staple presence during Harry's time at Hogwarts. He can't join the Headless Hunt because his head is technically still attached, and it's something he will never get over. He pops up throughout the series and has one of the hardest conversations of Harry's life after Sirius Black's death.

Oliver Wood

Oliver Wood is Gryffindor's Quidditch captain, and honestly, one of the biggest Quidditch fans Harry ever meets. He's a staple character through Harry's early years at Hogwarts, and he makes the reader passionate about Quidditch, too. Oliver doesn't pop up much after he graduates, so his inclusion in the first few seasons is important.

Mr. Ollivander

While Hagrid introduces Harry to the wizarding world, Mr. Ollivander gives him the tool he needs to navigate it. The wandmaker starts Harry on the journey to understanding his connection to Lord Voldemort, and it is the first time he truly experiences magic for himself.

Peeves the Poltergeist

Peeves is one of the funniest characters of the series, and he was unfortunately left out of the movie adaptations. With the new HBO show, the creative team has a chance to include one of the most missed characters in the films and add some amazing comic relief.
