Though the Harry Potter movies wrapped up over a decade ago, it doesn't mean the cast and crew have forgotten about each other. Understandably, the film series is a huge defining moment for their careers, and through various interviews, it's evident that they truly cherish their time in the Wizarding World. So when any of the people behind Harry Potter get to reunite, fans swoon.
Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy in all eight movies, took to Instagram on Aug. 27 to share two selfies that fans are absolutely loving. Hanging out at a Hogwarts-themed charity event called the David Holmes Cricket Cup, Felton posed with former co-star Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom) and stunt performer David Holmes. The annual event is in honor of the stunt performer, who became paralyzed from the chest down after suffering an injury on the set of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1. Check out the fun post below:
Fans loved the post even more after reading the caption, which leans into the Gryffindor vs Slytherin rivalry throughout Harry Potter. It looks like they had a blast at the event! People Magazine reports that this year's match raised money for the Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Royal National Orthopedic Hospital. Holmes has a personal connection to the Royal National Orthopedic Hospital, as told in the GoFundMe page, as they treated him after his injury and he has been an ambassador for them for over a decade.
Taking to his Instagram, Holmes shared a video talking about the charity event, which marked its 15th year this year. "An event organised the first year post accident that has continued on as a yearly tradition. Lots of my family and friends show up to the game and money is raised for charity," he wrote in the caption. Per the GoFundMe page, Felton has participated in seven of the 15 charity matches, including the very first one in 2009.
Though most Potterheads are familiar with Holmes' story, a wider audience learned about him in the 2023 HBO documentary David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived, which was executive-produced by Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe. The touching and inspiring documentary features interviews with Holmes, Radcliffe, and their loved ones as they chronicle Holmes' strength post-injury and how he's made it through such a life-changing event. You can watch the film on Max here. Holmes also wrote a book, The Boy Who Lived: When Magic and Reality Collide, which will be released in Nov. 2024.
Felton and Lewis have continued acting after hanging up their Hogwarts robes. Most recently, Felton stars in an upcoming series following Mahatma Gandhi in his younger years, and Lewis joined the second season of the BBC One show Avoidance, which came out earlier this year.
It always gives us the warm and fuzzies when we see the Harry Potter cast and crew get together, doesn't it, Potterheads?
