Cho Chang actress Katie Leung joins the Brigerton season 4 cast

Katie Leung, who starred in theHarry Pottermoviesas Cho Chang, has just joined the cast ofBridgertonseason 4.

According to a press release shared with the FanSided Entertainment team, Netflix announced Leung will star in the next season of the Netflix original series as Lady Araminta Gun.

We shared the description of Leung's character, Lady Araminta, via Netflix:

"Twice married and twice widowed, Araminta has two girls debuting on the marriage mart this season and is feeling the pressure to get at least one of them married off. Fabulous, discerning, and blunt, Araminta does not respond well when anything — or anyone — threatens her standing in society."

Okay, that's interesting! It's definitely going to be a change of pace for fans who are used to Leung as Cho Chang, an important character in the Wizarding World. TheHarry Pottermovies definitely did not let Leung show off Cho's personality, though.

Leung joins Yerin Ha, Michelle Mai, and Isabella Wei as the new cast members who will be introduced in season 4.

Leung appeared in five of theHarry Pottermovies, which is more than most of the cast members in the franchise, excluding the main cast.

Bridgertonseason 4, which just started filming in London, tells the love story of Benedict Bridgerton, played by Luke Thompson, and Sophie Baek, played by Ha. Finally, Benedict's love story is going to be told. I know some fans were a little bummed when they skipped over Benedict in favor of Colin and Penelope's love story inBridgertonseason 3. This sets up nicely for Benedict and Sophie in season 4, though!

Bridgertonseason 4 will largely tell the story ofAn Offer from a Gentlemanby Julia Quinn. It's the third book in theBridgertonseries, but it's the season 4 story. Got it?

Leung appeared as Cho Chang inHarry Potter and the Goblet of Fireas Cedric Diggory's girlfriend, while also having a romantic connection and friendship with Harry. Leung also made appearances in the final four movies followingHarry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.Overall, her biggest role was inHarry Potter and the Order of the Phoenixwhen she joined Dumbledore's Army and further explored her relationship with Harry.

More recently, Leung starred in the Amazon original seriesPeripheral.She jumped back into the fantasy genre withThe Wheel of Timeseason 2, also on Amazon, which premiered in the fall of 2023. Leung played Yassica, one of the Aes Sedai, in the second season. We should see Leung return inThe Wheel of Timeseason 3, but we're still waiting for the official confirmation.
