Cho Chang actress Katie Leung joins the Brigerton season 4 cast

Katie Leung, who starred in the Harry Potter movies as Cho Chang, has just joined the cast of Bridgerton season 4.

According to a press release shared with the FanSided Entertainment team, Netflix announced Leung will star in the next season of the Netflix original series as Lady Araminta Gun.

We shared the description of Leung's character, Lady Araminta, via Netflix:

"Twice married and twice widowed, Araminta has two girls debuting on the marriage mart this season and is feeling the pressure to get at least one of them married off. Fabulous, discerning, and blunt, Araminta does not respond well when anything — or anyone — threatens her standing in society."

Okay, that's interesting! It's definitely going to be a change of pace for fans who are used to Leung as Cho Chang, an important character in the Wizarding World. The Harry Potter movies definitely did not let Leung show off Cho's personality, though.

Leung joins Yerin Ha, Michelle Mai, and Isabella Wei as the new cast members who will be introduced in season 4.

Leung appeared in five of the Harry Potter movies, which is more than most of the cast members in the franchise, excluding the main cast.

Bridgerton season 4, which just started filming in London, tells the love story of Benedict Bridgerton, played by Luke Thompson, and Sophie Baek, played by Ha. Finally, Benedict's love story is going to be told. I know some fans were a little bummed when they skipped over Benedict in favor of Colin and Penelope's love story in Bridgerton season 3. This sets up nicely for Benedict and Sophie in season 4, though!

Bridgerton season 4 will largely tell the story of An Offer from a Gentleman by Julia Quinn. It's the third book in the Bridgerton series, but it's the season 4 story. Got it?

Leung appeared as Cho Chang in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire as Cedric Diggory's girlfriend, while also having a romantic connection and friendship with Harry. Leung also made appearances in the final four movies following Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Overall, her biggest role was in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix when she joined Dumbledore's Army and further explored her relationship with Harry.

More recently, Leung starred in the Amazon original series Peripheral. She jumped back into the fantasy genre with The Wheel of Time season 2, also on Amazon, which premiered in the fall of 2023. Leung played Yassica, one of the Aes Sedai, in the second season. We should see Leung return in The Wheel of Time season 3, but we're still waiting for the official confirmation.
