The holiday season might be over, but there are reasons to splurge all year round. We're coming up on Valentine's Day, for example, and birthdays, graduations, or just chances for kindness abound. Thanks to Amazon, Harry Potter fans can save some money on Lego sets for the inner witch or wizard in all of us.

Amazon's limited-time deals

According to The Scotsman, there are limited-time deals on Amazon for a variety of fandoms and "It's the perfect time....to get stuck into a Lego set. And that makes the timing of Amazon's latest set of limited-time deals rather apt."

One such deal is for the Lego Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle and Grounds set, which is retailing at a discount of 24% and includes "the castle's rocky landscape, Black Lake, Chamber of Secrets, Winged Key room, Potions Classroom and Chessboard Chamber, it even includes the Durmstrang Ship, Beauxbatons Carriage with winged horses and Ford Anglia in the branches of the Whomping Willow." It's wonderful to think of a set that combines so many elements of the book series, whether the dangers through the trap door or the excitement of the Triwizard Tournament. You might even make a quest of it, building parts of the set as you re-read the corresponding chapters. This would be a great way to enhance the suspense.

For Muggle-borns who enjoy other fandoms, there are Star Wars and The Lion King sets, but perhaps the most exciting deals are on more real-life sets. Paris' famous Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral is discounted 29%, for example and it's a great way to enjoy the newly re-opened landmark in France. For car-loving people like Mr. Weasley, there are sets for the Lego Technic Ferrari Daytona SP3 and the Lego Tecnic McLaren P1 Hypercar Building Set. My favorite of the lot has to be the Lego Technic NASA Apollo Lunar Roving Vehicle, This replica of the Apollo 17 equipment "comes with loads of accessories including comms equipment and tools for collecting lunar samples, and it's aimed at adults." I personally would like to use it for the older kids I know.

It's true, as the article says, that "there's still plenty of winter left...the nights are still fairly dark and the mornings are often dreary." We could all use something to lift our spirits and this sale might just be the trick.
