It's always fun to find a new way of expressing your Harry Potter fandom. This can manifest in House scarves, customized wands, LEGO sets, etc. I once collected lapel pins that said "Keep the Secret" for both Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and Fantastic Beasts: Crimes of Grindelwald because I saw the two things in the same week. The Royal Mint has made a feature of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets a collectible coin and there is a way to acquire it for free.
Where can you get this deal?
It should be no challenge for fans of the Harry Potter series to associate a mental image with the words "Ford Anglia." This is the car that Ron and Harry stole and flew to Hogwarts when they were blocked from taking the Hogwarts Express. It later came to their rescue when they were nearly attacked by acromantulas and made its home in the Forbidden Forest. According to The Sun, "The Flying Car coin typically costs £15 but luckily for lovers of the popular franchise, we've found a fantastic sign-up trick that covers the cost."
There is a procedure to follow, of course. In order to get the coin, you need to "sign up to cashback website Quidco [to] receive a £15 new member bonus...[which] means you can claim a Harry potter collectible from The Royal Mint and get the entire cost of the coin covered - that really is magic!" The magic is contingent on you using the site to make the selection "to ensure your cashback is tracked."
The Flying Car coin depicts the Weasley family car zooming above Hogwarts castle as Harry gapes at the landscape and Ron nervously drives. Around them are owls in flight. It joins The Winged Keys coin and The Black Lake coin, which were released in 2024. The Royal Mint site also offers a color version of the coin for ten quid more, which renders the car in its iconic turquoise. Bella Bigs is the artist credited for the design, "Made in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products."
These are "uncirculated coins," somewhat like the fake Galleons used by Dumbledore's Army to pass messages. You can't spend them, but they can be a great way to commemorate your love of the series. Check out the promotional offer or browse The Royal Mint for all the options available to wizards, witches, and Muggles alike.
