I'm not sure how unpopular this Harry Potter opinion is, but I'll express it anyways: Colin Creevey is one of the most interesting minor characters from the second book onward. He may be overly eager and too devoted to hero worship at times, but he's loyal and earnest. He was the son of a milkman who taught his dad to appreciate the wizarding world. He snuck back into the castle to fight in the Battle of Hogwarts. I was delighted by Hugh Mitchell's turn as Colin in the movies. Now, it turns out that Mitchell took the role to heart.

What is Hugh Mitchell up to these days?

If you remember nothing else about his character, picture a young Hugh Mitchell with a camera in hand. He documented everything and it turned into a visual running gag before he was Petrified. According to Geo News, Mitchell hasn't given up his cameraman persona since. "Hugh Mitchell, the actor who played Colin Creevey in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, has embraced a real-life career in photography, much like his on-screen character." Mitchell has an official website where he mentions that he "started out as an actor," but he describes his interest in photography as his "first love." He mentions in his "Pleased to Meet You" introduction that "having experience in front of the lens has been a huge help in now being behind it."

Geo News goes on to say that many fans have responded to this news of how the boy photographer turned out with claims of it being "an example of 'method acting taken to a whole new level.'" They further mentioned that "Mitchell, who portrayed the enthusiastic young Gryffindor known for his love of capturing moments with his camera, has transitioned from acting to professional photography, specializing in portraiture, events, and landscapes."

Mitchell appeared in nearly nineteen projects over the course of his career. Daniel Radcliffe appeared in an adaptation of David Copperfield and Hugh Mitchell likewise acted in a Charles Dickens adaptation as the boy titular character of Nicholas Nickleby. he was last seen in an episode of Wallander, but also provided the voice for Colin Creevey in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix video game. Fans of Dan Brown can remember him as young Silas in The Da Vinci Code.

It's great to see that this charming young actor has developed such a keen eye for photography and found such success. Feel free to admire his work, but don't criticize his images for not moving.
