Leta Lestrange deserves more than she was given in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald and hopefully we can have Zoë Kravitz back in the Harry Potter series.
Zoë Kravitz brought to life Leta Lestrange in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald and many were rightfully upset by how little she ended up getting in the grand scheme of things. From many of us wanting more of Kravitz in our lives to Lestrange sacrificing herself for, seemingly, no reason, there were a lot of problems with how Leta was treated.
Which is upsetting because Zoë Kravitz was excited to bring her to life. For the first time in Harry Potter’s history, we were having a major character played by a Black actress. The series has, famously, been very white throughout the years and getting to see Leta and learn of her past at Hogwarts was going to be fun.
And then we kind of got that before the film quickly didn’t care that much. I’m sorry but if you have someone as talented and brilliant as Zoë Kravitz in your franchise, you should find a way to keep her and I don’t think that Leta needed to die in The Crimes of Grindelwald.
If they had kept her for another movie, great! And maybe they’ll find a way of bringing her back to the series but I think there is so much more we can give to her as a character. Especially since Kravitz clearly cares about this franchise.
Kravitz has talked about how she thought it was important to bring Leta to life in the series and hopefully we’ll get to see more of her in someway when Fantastic Beasts 3 comes out!
