Fantastic Beasts’ Jude Law is a major Harry Potter fan just like us!

Jude Law is more than just Young Albus Dumbledore. He’s a huge fan of the Harry Potter franchise, just like us. It made him perfect for Fantastic Beasts.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald brought us Jude Law as Young Albus Dumbledore. Many certainly loved his portrayal, and it turns out that it’s more than just great acting. He is also just like us, a huge fan of the Harry Potter franchise. He also happened to get a three-hour talk with J.K. Rowling, where he learned everything about his character.

It turns out that Law read the books to his children and took them to see all the movies. He even took them to see Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them before he landed the role of Albus Dumbledore. You can just imagine how his children felt when they learned their father would be the younger version of Hogwarts’ headmaster.

Law did have to audition for the role, according to Cinema Blend, but it was worth it. This was a role he needed to get and one that we know now he was destined to play. But getting the role wasn’t the last step before rehearsing the lines. He wanted to make sure he was ready for the part.

Getting ready meant having a conversation with J.K. Rowling. This isn’t all that uncommon. Actors like to talk to the person behind the source material in adaptations, especially when playing such iconic roles. But instead of just a quick chat, Rowling spent the afternoon with him to talk about the character.

This was a chance for Law to learn all about Dumbledore’s backstory. He got secrets and information that we don’t know yet, but hopefully, we’ll get to find out soon. Some of those secrets may come out in Fantastic Beasts 3.
